The course below demonstrates my ability to design and develop a comprehensive educational experience within the Canvas Learning Management System. Utilizing instructional design models such as the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning, Constructivist Learning Theory, Zone of Proximal Development, and ARCS Theory, I carefully crafted each component of this course to enhance learner success and satisfaction. Additionally, I integrated a variety of multimedia products, including a podcast, a video tutorial, and a screencast, to cater to diverse learning styles. This course reflects my dedication to creating an engaging and effective learning environment that meets high academic standards while fostering meaningful student engagement.

Welcome to GeneQuest

About the Course

GeneQuest is a dynamic, standards-aligned online science course designed for eighth-grade learners. This course introduces students to the foundational principles of genetics and heredity, including patterns of inheritance, the role of dominant and recessive genes, and the biological processes that shape individual traits.

Through interactive lessons and scaffolded activities, students engage with essential tools such as Punnett squares and pedigree charts to predict genetic outcomes. The course also integrates critical discussions around the ethical implications of genetic engineering and selective breeding, encouraging learners to think deeply about science and society.

This project reflects my ability to design engaging, age-appropriate content that blends conceptual understanding with real-world relevance in an accessible, online format.
